ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the tactical roadmaps for their pillar of teams, and then delivering on it, making sure they have everything they need to succeed.
• They are responsible for the welfare and motivation of their pillar of teams, making sure that wins are celebrated, and performance managing those that need help.
• They are responsible for maintaining a skills matrix for their pillar of teams, then using that to deliver training and development and to inform resourcing decisions. They are on the hiring team for every potential new team member.
• They are responsible for identifying resourcing risks and issues and escalating and devising action plans to mitigate and solve them
• They are responsible for ensuring that technical debt, security, maintenance, tooling, and support burdens are included in the tactical roadmap.
• Work with Architecture team to ensure best practices and overall vision are followed across Engineering
• They need to be able to work with our managers at a similar level throughout the business, such as Sales, Professional Services, and Support.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Solid understanding of software delivery lifecycle
• Strong experience of Agile delivery and the scrum master role, certification
• Technical background preferred e.g. past experience as a software developer
• Knowledge of software used daily e.g. BitBucket (git), JIRA, Excel
• Ability to discuss technical topics effectively with the technical team
• Understanding the release process and coordinating with the Release Management function
